Reflective Supervision for DSLs, Safeguarding and Pastoral Education Staff
Based in the West Midlands

Enhanced staff wellbeing support leads to improved resilience, reducing stress and burnout among employees. Additionally, effective safeguarding training strengthens decision-making processes, resulting in higher staff retention and fewer sickness absences. This all contributes to creating a calmer, more reflective whole-school culture.
All sessions are delivered by clinically qualified supervisors who bring extensive experience in education, safeguarding training, and mental health, ensuring comprehensive professional supervision and effective staff wellbeing support.

Hi, I’m Dave, the founder of Expert at Hand Supervision.
I’ve spent more than 20 years supporting young people, families and professionals, including over a decade working across mental health, safeguarding and education. As a qualified Clinical Supervisor and Mental Health Practitioner with years of experience working in school pastoral and safeguarding teams, I understand the pressures faced by those caring for and supporting others.
I created Expert at Hand to give school staff a warm, confidential space to pause, reflect and feel supported—so they can continue making a positive difference without carrying everything alone.

We offer a range of flexible options, including:
One‑off whole‑staff supervision days
Group supervision for pastoral or safeguarding teams
Regular individual supervision for key roles

It felt beneficial to reflect as a group of DSLs. It felt like a safe space to unpick my thoughts and feelings.
It felt safe to talk openly and to recognise barriers I didn't know existed. I could have done this all day!
It was great to have the space and opportunity to be honest with the rest of the team about my thoughts and feelings.
I loved the openness and lack of judgement
I relished the opportunity to sit and 'stop'. It felt so important to quietly reflect with my colleagues.
I enjoyed having the time allocated to reflect- discussing barriers and strengths. The tasks were discreet but got everyone talking without judgement.
